The Counterfeiters
This is a German movie about a special division of concentration camps which worked on counterfeiting money for the Germans. I'm not a huge concentration camp movie fan, but this one was really good. It's a foreign movie, so the plot is a little slow. But basically, the world's best counterfeiter is captured by the Nazis (he's Jewish) and the person that captures him got a promotion for capturing the world's best. So that Nazi tracks the Jewish counterfeiter down and puts him in a special well-cared for division of a concentration camp. The guy doesn't have it easy by any stretch, but he's got it easier than 99% of other Jews in the camps. The guy oversees the counterfeiting of passports, documents, and money. Initially, British notes, but then on to the very difficult American dollar. The movie has a lot of heart, which isn't something I've ever written before. It's quite touching, sad, happy all through the movie. Highly recommended! (I feel bad that the hair-band review above is longer than this review – don’t let that reflect on how awesome this movie is…)
