Blood In Blood Out
Now I realize this movie is supposedly a "classic" in the prison and thug genre of movies, but I will be honest – I'm not a fan. First off, the movie is more than three hours long. That's just rude to think people want to see your movie that much that they will sit through three hours of bad acting and hilariously white/Mexican accents to make it to the anti-climactic ending. Plot – whitey (raised Mexican, and supposedly has one Mexican parent) gets out of prison. Goes back in, gets out, goes in, gets out, goes in, gets out. While in there, he ends up proving to the Mexican prison gang that he knows a couple of words in Spanish and can speak with a hilarious accent. He ends up running the gang and plotting against the leader to kill him. The whole time, he's fighting other whiteys and the black gang while pretending to maintain peace (while he's dealing drugs and raking in further cash from a gambling ring he's got going). It was long and painful, and might have been chopped down by an hour and a half and if there was enough action and less "political" plot (and less vato this and homes that), I might have enjoyed it. Not high up on my list of super cool prison movies. Sorry to those whom I've offended.
