Revolt of the Zombies

Black and white film from the 30’s about an expedition to Cambodia to find the procedure to make zombie (or robot) soldiers. There are all sorts of back stabbing to find the secret parchment and get it from a Cambodia priest. There’s a background love story which is lame (like most of the 30’s in general). It’s got some elements stolen for Indiana Jones with small golden statues and gongs and things. It’s not as action packed as I had hoped. The zombies are more “explained” rather than shown. They are able to be shot in World War 1, but not killed, and that is why the military wants to learn the secret. Once the guy that finds out how to make zombies gives up the craft, the zombies turn on him. Unfortunately, the zombies in this movie are not like today’s zombies with blood and brains on the mind. They’re just monkeys who take orders from their masters (which is why they keep being referred to as robots).
